Also, veneering is a perfect example of reducing loss of special hardwoods.  Instead of building out of solid lumber, veneering allows for many different grain and geometric patterns while using a smaller percentage of the specie compared to building out of solid stock.

Urban lumber is another method of building using lumber from local urban areas that needed to be cut down due to rot or to removed because of possible damage that could happen or simply an owner is clearing an orchard.  Using these woods can yield beautiful grain patterns that cannot be purchased from a lumber yard and the tree was not wasted or chipped up.  My Log or Timber Furniture was created out of fallen trees lying on the ground or found in a saw-mill.
